Production Machinery: Investment, Demands, and Continuity<\/strong><\/h2>

Production machinery generally costs a \u201cfortune.\u201d Therefore, the general idea is clear: it must run \u201call the time<\/strong>, \u201d<\/strong> no matter what, with production taking priority over any other work involving the machines. <\/p>

However, even though a machine supplier’s specifications are becoming increasingly specific, the implementation process is not the same everywhere.<\/p>

  • actual use,<\/li>
  • belonging to one process or the other,<\/li>
  • the specific conditions of the production environment,<\/li><\/ul>

    For this reason, specific adjustments and settings<\/strong> are often required to ensure optimal performance based on the installation location.<\/p>

    Every factory has its own reality<\/strong><\/h2>

    Furthermore, a factory is not a \u201cfranchise.\u201d They are not all the same. <\/p>

    Depending on their infrastructure, the resources allocated, the approach taken, and management\u2019s involvement, the specific cases to be addressed\u2014even though they share a common goal\u2014vary widely.<\/p>

    This \u201creactive\u201d approach succeeded in creating \u201cexperts\u201d who, through experience, knew the machines\u2019 behavior inside and out.<\/p>

    And our dependence on them became more and more inevitable with each passing day, making it difficult to predict in advance what would happen and what it would cost us.<\/p>

    Fortunately, for companies that take pride in their work, this \u201creactive expert\u201d approach\u2014which still exists\u2014has gradually been replaced by a PREVENTIVE<\/strong> approach, incorporating \u201cunproductive\u201d machine downtime scheduled exclusively for maintenance activities.<\/p>

    Anticipate, record, analyze, and improve<\/strong><\/p>

    The key lies in planning ahead:<\/p>

    • methodical,<\/li>
    • frequency,<\/li>
    • based on triggers such as operating time, machine cycles, blade cuts, etc.,<\/li>
    • to be adjusted periodically based on the results obtained.<\/li><\/ul>

      These are results that we must record and then analyze<\/strong> together, using statistical methods.<\/p>

      Only then can we truly understand how our machines perform and, based on that, identify their weaknesses so we can make the best decisions regarding their maintenance.<\/p>

      All of this is done with the help of CMMS<\/strong> software:<\/p>

      • easy,<\/li>
      • flexible,<\/li>
      • integrated with the meters,<\/li>
      • related to the production CPP planning,<\/li>
      • participatory,<\/li>
      • but always under the supervision of an expert in maintenance management and planning.<\/li><\/ul>

        Because having data isn’t enough.<\/p>

        We must ensure the quality of the data<\/strong>, its correct interpretation, and its actual usefulness for decision-making. <\/strong><\/p>

        Maintenance isn’t just about repairs<\/strong><\/h2>
